About the event

For those inclined to practice them, the effects of doing regular mindfulness practices are deeply resonant and personal. However, evidence shows the success of mindfulness training programs is dependent on the teachers’ embodiment of mindfulness in both guidance and reflection.

This experiential retreat will provide health care professionals the opportunity to develop this embodiment and build a deeper understanding of whether, how, when and why to draw on mindfulness practices in treatment settings.

The Principles and Practices of Mindfulness retreat program is structured around the gold standard Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) curriculum, and the four foundations of mindfulness that underpin it. MBSR is the mindfulness course with the strongest evidence of effectiveness for reducing psychological distress and aiding recovery from common mental health disorders such as anxiety, depression and substance use.

You will learn how and why the core mindfulness practices work to cultivate cognitive control, emotional regulation, self-efficacy and life satisfaction.
